Choosing the right beam
Beams carry the loads of a structure. The profile, the height and the grade are chosen from the span, the load and the connections planned.
Profile and height
IPE beams suit bending over long spans, HEA and HEB beams suit columns and heavy loads, UPN channels suit lintels and secondary framing.
Grade and finish
S235 covers most building work. S355 reduces the section for the same load. A galvanised or primed finish protects exposed structures.
Length and cutting
Beams are delivered in standard lengths or cut to size when ordering, which saves handling and cutting on site.
