What is the cutting tolerance?

Cut lengths are held within plus or minus 3 millimetres. The exact tolerance is stated on each product page.

Can I get a material certificate?

Yes. The 3.1 inspection certificate is available for every reference and can be downloaded from your order once it has shipped. testt

What is the maximum length I can order?

Standard beams are 12 metres long. Longer lengths depend on the profile and are quoted by your agency.

Choosing within this range

Every reference of this range states its profile, height and grade. Two points help you pick the right one.

Reading a beam designation

A designation gives the profile family and the nominal height in millimetres. The weight per metre and the section properties follow from it.

Tolerances and straightness

Hot-rolled beams follow the dimensional standard of their family. Cut ends are square within the cutting tolerance stated on the product page.

Frequently asked questions

What our customers ask before ordering a beam.

HEB beams are hot-rolled steel products. Prepared with a silicon content ranging between 0.15% and 0.25%. They are suitable for zinc coating. The central part of the beam is called ”the core” while its sides are called ”wings” or ”flanges”.The beams, regardless of their shape (I, H or U), have the following common characteristics:

height greater than or equal to 80 mm
normally symmetrical wings of equal width
the outer faces of the wings are parallel
the wings either have thickness that gradually decreases from the core towards the edge (so-called ”inclined wings” sections) or have constant thickness (so-called ”parallel wings” sections).
The surface of the cores is connected to the inner faces of the wings by fillets. The grey, marbled or rough areas may appear but have no effect on the corrosion resistance. The beam is characterised by the following dimensional elements:
- The widths and thickness of the core and wings
- The radius between the wing and core
